of broken sleep
the missing breaths
of a lonely bed
the empty searches
of a weary hand
long for the dawn

Frozen lips
unfreeze
with a dozen
fainting smiles
unforgiving sadness
the emptiness of silence
long for the dawn

Freezing nights
the wearied eyes
frozen with drops
of dust and smoke
warming with
silent breaths of hope
long for the dawn
